Peel and grate 1 big piece of ginger. Grind this into a fine paste. Add this paste to a muslin cloth, wrap it tight and squeeze out the juice. Make sure you have at least 2 tablespoons of ginger juice.
Warm half a cup of extra virgin coconut oil for 30 seconds. Turn off the flame and let it cool. Coconut oil contains lauric acid that can stimulate blood flow to the scalp. This in turn helps in boosting hair growth. Combine ginger juice with the coconut oil and using a spoon, stir until both the ingredients combine.
Add 5 drops of rosemary oil to the above said mixture. Antioxidants present in rosemary oil penetrates deep into the scalp, allows hair shafts to absorb nutrients better and in turn slows down greying of hair.
Add a teaspoon of lemon juice and give the mixture a good stir for all the elements to combine well. Citric acid present in lemon juice cleanses the scalp, and adds shine to hair and keeps it away from getting greasy.
Use a wide toothed comb to remove all knots and tangles from your hair. If your hair is very dry, then take a few drops of essential oil and rub it to your hair and then run the comb through. This way you can remove all the tangles without breaking your hair.
Divide your entire hair into small sections. Start applying the mask from the root, working your way down. Your hair should be thoroughly doused in the mask. But not so much that it trickles down your face.
Massage your scalp using your finger for 10 to 15 minutes. This will stimulate the blood flow, which in turn, will help the scalp to absorb the nutrients from the mask. You will have slight burning sensation on the scalp , which is normal after applying this mask. However, if there is too much irritation, you can add more coconut oil to the mask.
Allow your scalp to absorb the nourishing properties of the ginger hair mask overnight. In the morning you can shampoo and condition as usual.
After shampooing, squeeze out the excess water from your hair. Remove the moisture from your hair using an old T-shirt . Microfibres of the T-shirt will keep your hair from getting frizzy, and will also prevent breakage.
When drying your hair with a blow dryer, keep the setting in low and use it six inches away from your hair. Run it in fast motion from the root to the tips. Never focus on one spot for too long.
